Hello fellow readers! It’s been some time since I posted about cooking. So, today, I decided to revive my cast iron skillet.
How to revive your cast iron.
This option was the one I found most effective in combatting those tough and stubborn rusts!
First, in a tub, fill it 1/2 part water and 1/2 part vinegar. Let soak for 1 hour. After 1 hour, rinse off and scrub the rusts off. If necessary, you can use a scrunched up aluminum foil to scrub/scrape off the rusts. You can also use a sponge to scrub it off as well. After its clean to your liking, set on stove and turn the heat on to dry. Once it drys, but NOT SMOKING, add either flaxseed oil or Canola Oil to start the seasoning process. Season at least a minimum of 2 to 3 times.
After I finished seasoning it, I sauteed this veggie mix. The flavor of sauteed in a cast iron skillet is not comparable to the ordinary kitchen pan! No comparison! 😍
After cooking, let it cool before cleaning and re-seasoning.
